Sanford Tech ID: 0009-01

0009-01 allows a single venous access site when infusing lytic agents into the pulmonary tree. The housing can be advanced either over the wire or with the assistance of a sail balloon. The innovation also has a side port for easy selection of the contralateral pulmonary artery. Once in place, the system has the option for a built-in pressure monitoring system.

Value Proposition

Market Opportunity

In the U.S., there are currently around 250,000 pulmonary embolism (PE) admissions per year. According to current guidelines, about 25 percent of patients admitted with PE are eligible for interventional treatment. Reimbursement is currently not a barrier to entry. This device is contemplated to be compatible with all current infusion catheters.

Intellectual Property

There is a pending utility patent application in the U.S., Europe, Japan and China.

Development Status

Design specifications have been developed, prototypes have been built, and animal studies have been performed to validate the target vessels can be selected. The next step includes creating a clinic-ready product.
